Discovering careers in science at the Bioscience Festival

On 14 November Year 8 students visited the Great British Bioscience festival at the V&A Museum of Childhood Gardens.  The event is the culmination of a year long celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.

Along with visiting the exhibits created by Universities and Bioscience companies on topics ranging from antibiotic resistance to famous biologists, students experimented with glow in the dark bacteria, produced their own capsules of probiotics and interacted with professional scientists and graduates.

The visit was a huge success with pupils widening their understanding of the range of careers and opportunities available to them in the field of biology.
